CPAPD Vice-President Yan Junqi Visited Nepal and Sri Lanka

At the respective invitation of Nepal Peace and Solidarity Council (NPSC) and Pathfinder Foundation of Sri Lanka (PF), Mme. Yan Junqi, Vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, and President of China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) and Vice-president of the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD), paid an visit to Nepal and Sri Lanka from Oct. 8th to 15th by leading a CPAPD delegation, accompanied by Mr. Ma Wenpu, Executive Vice-president of the CPAPD; Mr. Gao Youdong, Standing Council Member of the CPAPD and Secretary General of the CAPD; Mr. Wu Yijian, Standing Council Member of the CPAPD and President of GINWA Investment Group of Shanxi Province; Ms. Qiu Yonghui, Vice-president of China Association for South Asian Studies; and Mrs. Chen Huaifan, Deputy Secretary General of the CPAPD.
During her visit to Nepal, Mme. Yan respectively met with Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav, Civil and Foreign Affairs Minister Madhav Presad Ghimire, Former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal and Former Parliament Speaker Subas Nemwang. Yan also attended in a seminar co-organized by the CPAPD and NPSC with the participation of representatives from nearly 20 Nepalese NGOs, and a donation ceremony of stationeries and schoolbags which are sponsored by GINWA and donated by the CPAPD to a native middle school of Nepal.
During her visit to Sri Lanka, Mme. Yan was invited to a breakfast meeting hosted by Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and welcoming luncheon of eminent personages hosted by Mr. Milinda Moragoda, Senior Advisor to President Rajapaksa and Founder of the PF. Yan also met with Sri Lankan Deputy Parliament Speaker Chandima Weerakkody and attended a seminar co-organized by the CPAPD and PF with the participation of representatives from over 10 Sri Lankan NGOs. Meanwhile, Yan also presided the working meeting between the CPAPD and PF to discuss the future mutual exchanges and practical cooperation on promoting fishery, tourism and education cooperation between the two countries.
