From September 19 to 21, the Commemoration of the International Day of Peace 2024 was successfully held in Jinan and Weifang, Shandong Province, with the theme of "Upholding a Shared Future to Build a World of Peaceful Coexistence". The event was endorsed by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and organized by the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament and the People's Government of Shandong Province. Around 180 representatives from more than 80 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe, and the Americas, along with over 100 political organizations, peace groups, and security think tanks participated in the Commemoration.

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng addressed the opening ceremony of the Commemoration of the International Day of Peace 2024, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres delivered a video address, Vice Chairman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and President of the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament, Ma Biao, Secretary of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee & Chairman of the Standing Committee of Shandong Provincial People’s Congress Lin Wu, Vice President of the National Assembly of Laos and Chairman of the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity, Sommad Pholsena, former President of South Africa Kgalema Motlanthe, former Colombian President Ernesto Samper, former President of the Swiss Confederation Ueli Maurer and other speakers addressed the meeting. Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the opening ceremony.

The Commemorative included the welcome banquet, the "Safeguarding Peace for a Shared Future” Story Sharing and Art Performance, Dialogue on Jointly Implementing the Global Development Initiative, Dialogue on Jointly Acting on the Global Security Initiative, Dialogue on Jointly Advancing the Global Civilization Initiative and the closing ceremony. Rrepresentatives visited Weichai Group, Goertek Inc and Qianquezhuang Village, Weifang World Kite Museum, Weihsien Concentration Camp Museum, Qingzhou Ancient City and Qingzhou Museum. At the closing ceremony, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Lu Kang, Vice Governor of Shandong Province Song Junji, and Secretary of the CPC Weifang Municipal Committee Liu Yun delivered speeches respectively. A press conference was held after the event.

Representatives held that the Commemoration fully reflected the concept of Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind put forward by President Xi Jinping and China's diplomatic vision of "seeking common prosperity for the world". They spoke highly of China's long-term efforts and contributions to promoting world peace, security and development, noting that they would work with China to continue to uphold the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, promote the implementation of the three major global initiatives, and jointly safeguard peace to achieve better development.
