Secretary-General of the CPAPD attends the International Nuclear Agenda Conference

On June 16th and 17th, 2017, the International Nuclear Agenda Conference was held in Beijing, hosted by University of International Relations of China (UIR), co-organized by the Journal of International Security Studies as well as the Project on Managing the Atom of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at John F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University.
At the opening ceremony, several guests have been invited to deliver speeches, including Mr. An Yuejun as the Secretary-General of the CPAPD, Ms. Dong Zhihua as the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Arms Control of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Martin Malin as the Executive Director of Project on Managing the Atom of Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at John F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University, and Professor Tao Jian as the President of UIR.
Mr. An Yuejun believes that current international nuclear disarmament process is basically stagnant. With international nuclear conflict risk factors increasing, the international nuclear security situation is not optimistic. We shall adhere to a“rational, coordinated and balanced” nuclear security approach to forge a community of shared future on nuclear security; to realize a "soft landing" of the DPRK nuclear issue as soon as possible with joint efforts and comprehensive policies; to put the "common security" idea into practice, and to create an overall favorable international security environment.
