
From June 5 to 7, Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament hosted the 3rd Wanshou Dialogue on Global Security in Beijing, with the theme of “Overstretching the Concept of Security: How to Understand It and What to Do?”. Mr. Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.George Yeo, former Foreign Minister of Singapore, Andi Widjajanto, former Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia, Moon Chung-in, former Special Adviser for National Security to former Republic of Korea President Moon Jae-in, Doug Bandow, Special Assistant to former United States President Ronald Regan and Pino Arlacchi, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, as well as other over 60 security experts from nearly 30 countries and international organizations participated in the Dialogue.
The participants had in-depth discussion over 4 topics, namely "Overstretching the Concept of Security: Its Phenomenon and Nature", "Overstretching the Concept of Security: Its Implications on Major Country Relations", "Overstretching the Concept of Security: Strategic Choice of the Global South" and " Overstretching the Concept of Security: How to Avoid Its Trap", and reached lots of consensus.
