A 12-member CPAPD Delegation Visited Sri Lanka


At the cordial invitation of the Pathfinder Foundation (PF), Mr. Zhu Rui, the Secretary General of the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD), led a 12-member delegation consisting of the CPAPD council members for a working visit to Sri Lanka from May 5th to 11th, 2013. The visit was designated to promote China-Sri Lanka concrete cooperation from NGO’s perspective and consolidate the substantive foundation for the bilateral relations. Throughout the whole visit, the CPAPD delegation was given warm hospitality and thoughtful arrangements by the host.
In Colombo, the Acting Minister of Investment Promotion, Hon. Faiszer Mustapha hosted a breakfast meeting for the delegation, introducing Sri Lankan facilitating policies of welcoming foreign investment from the perspective of legislation. The founder of the PF, senior adviser to the President of Sri Lanka and former minister of Tourism and Justice, Mr. Milinda Moragoda chaired two meetings with the delegation. The Chairman of the PF, former Ambassador to China and the U.S., Mr. Bernard Goonetilleke chaired one working session with the delegation. The Deputy Chairmanof the PF, Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy and the Executive Director of the PF, Mr. Luxman Siriwardena co-chaired a dialogue meeting with the delegation. During the meetings, the CPAPD and the PF conducted a thorough, candid and comprehensive exploration on how to strengthen the tangible cooperation and exchanges between the two organizations after signing the memorandum last July.
Mr. Zhu Rui finished his visit to Sri Lanka on the 8th, while the rest delegates continued an extensive field-visit to other parts of Sri Lanka from 8th to 11th, making an on-the-spot investigation on the tourism and investment environment in Sri Lanka.
