Ma Biao Elected President as New Leadership and Board of Directors of the CPAPD Come into Being

On April 2, the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD) held the 10^th Joint Conference of Member Organizations and the 3^rd Conference of the Board of Directors in Beijing. Ma Biao, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the 13^th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and 9^th Vice President of the CPAPD, Han Qide, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the 12^th CPPCC and 9^th President of the CPAPD, and Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC (IDCPC) attended the conference.

The conference elected CPAPD new leadership as well as Board of Directors: Ma Biao was Elected President, Tie Ning, President of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and President of Chinese Writers Association, Sun Yao, Vice Minister of Education of China, Yu Hongjun and Zhou Li, both former Vice Minister of the IDCPC were elected Vice Presidents. Some 145 representatives from the communities of politics, economy, academia, health and culture all over China were designated as directors of the new Board, and of them, 39 are standing members. The conference also approved a revised constitution of the CPAPD.

Initiated and founded by various concerned mass organizations and prominent personages from various ethnics and all walks of life inside China, the CPAPD is the largest civil peace organization in the country.
