
Beijing, March 18th—The Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament held here today on the afternoon the 13th dialogue between Chinese and European scholars, under the theme of "the prospects for lasting peace in Europe: ideals and reality". Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Pino Arlacchi, Former Under-Secretary of the UN attended and addressed the function. Nearly 20 members including European security researchers, officials and scholars from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences attended the dialogue.
Observing the theme, representatives discussed topics of mutual interest and reached a succession of consensus. They believed that the current international situation is turbulent and intertwined. And the relationship between major countries, geopolitics, and trends of thought affect the evolution of the security situation in Europe and the construction of the regional security architecture. People of all countries share the same future. And win-win cooperation is the right choice. They positively evaluated the Global Security Initiative and the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by President Xi Jinping, calling for strengthening concept exchanges and adhering to solidarity and mutual assistance. They expressed the willingness to take the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War as an opportunity to further gather broad consensus on protecting peace and promote lasting peace and common security in the world.
At the invitation of the CPAPD, European scholars visited China from March 16 to 24. During the stay in Beijing, Ms. Yan Yinghua, Deputy Secretary-General of the CPAPD Secretariat, hosted a workshop. And the delegation attended the 13th China-Europe Scholars Dialogue, had a discussion with the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, and visited the EV Factory of Xiaomi. Besides, the delegation also visited Zhejiang.
